In this Mindshift Interview, I have Kerry of Intelligently Cool aka Intecoo. During this interview, we deep dived into all things business, influencing the future and more. Kerry is passionate about connecting people who generate ideas with those who can make it happen. He's redefined the concept networking and is giving us an inside look on his journey,,, 

Behind the Person


Tell a little bit about yourself.

I am Kerry, founder of Intelligently Cool aka Intecoo. I am military brat. Thus, I have had the opportunity to be exposed to the world. And I have spent time living in various landscapes such as Japan and England. 

What is one quote you live by? Give an example of how you’ve applied this quote in your journey.

I am the type of person, if I believe in something than I go for it! I commit and let my passion drive me to the destination. In this case, the destination happens to be the moon. 

What’s one habit you have developed that you feel as though has aided in your overall journey?

Consuming the right information.

The keyword here is right. Information is constantly thrown at us everyday. Only increasing the importance of actively being aware of the information we are consuming. I want my information to be leading and guiding me to the right direction.

How did Intecoo come to form? What was the idea that started it all?

Intecoo was born as of a result of being tired of the negative stereotypes given to the millennial generation such as lazy, tired, entitled, etc. When in reality we are resourceful, adaptive, culture changing, and more. 

There was a shift and suddenly everyone became semi obsessed with targeting and marketing the millennial. I recognized we needed to embrace the term millennial. Intecoo was created to help facilitate the conversation across generations between influencers and brands.  

What is the purpose of Intecoo? How does Intecoo influence society?

Intecoo creates experiences of value.

A pop- up brunch experience. We create a space for thought leaders, bloggers, artists, designers, photographers, entrepreneurs,  and career-climbers who are taking the reigns of leadership to new heights in various industries to connect in a non traditional yet authentic way. 

We were able to partner with The GA Assembly to create a much needed monthly dialogue. Young Professionals from various disciplines lead a discussion tailored around how design, technology and new business systems are disrupting the culture of their respected industry. Followed by, an interactive brainstorm with the panel and audience to identify intersections of perceived opposites.

There are a lot of misconceptions about running a personal brand or being an entrepreneur, like lack of freedom or difficulty growing income. What’s the biggest myth you’ve learned to be untrue?

Entrepreneurship is always fun.

Being an entrepreneur is not always fun. From the outside looking inward, one only gets the highlights. Instagram only shows the exciting vacations, cool events, etc. Behind the scenes is where the real work happens.

What tools or systems is a necessity for running your platform smoothly?


Slack is used for communications among our team. It allows for the sharing of documents and for the seperation of conversations regarding various topics. 


I use Trello for organization. #gamechanger

In order for a brand and business to thrive there must be clientele. What marketing strategies have you used to attract and find new leads for Intecoo Group’s growth?

Intecoo approached marketing a little differently. Traditionally, marketing consists of you chasing your audience. Alternatively, the decision with Intecoo is to create the energy and have the people come to us. And it has been working to our advantage. Because of the energy we create, the influencers, brands, and even majority of our team members have come wanting to know how they can get involved. 

Customer Service or the customer’s overall experience is crucial when it comes to brand longevity. What experiences have you created for your clientele or audience?

Our experiences are all about giving value. It's all about our audience. We provide the atmosphere, sprinkle in a few thought leaders, and the room is filled with genuine connections, partnerships, etc.

What is are some of your biggest frustrations or pain points of your business' current journey?

  1. Building and refining a fluid system for our processes.
  2. Developing ways to scale and monetize an experience. 
  3. Expanding our reach through new content methods.

Influencing the Future


What are some accomplishments of Intecoo Group? And where do you see its future?

  • Article in Huffington Post
  • Customer Feedback. It only affirms that we are being valuable and beneficial as a business. 
  • Our Team. I have been able to attract a core team. These are not people, I actively went looking for rather they approached me. It only shows their genuine love for the business.

In the future, I would love to see Intecoo grow into an experiment marketing agency. An agency designed to establish connections and assist in resources between brands and millennial influencers.

I describe a Mindshift as a moment in time, where one realizes, there is more to life than what society has told. Can you describe your Mindshift moment?

My mindshift moment occurred on November 7, 2014. I was laid off and realized you are only as valuable as the needs of the company. Regardless of your expertise in a certain area, when a company decides they no longer need you it's over.

What advice can you give to other entrepreneurs?

Study emotional intelligence.
  • Develop good habits.
  • Learn leadership traits.
  • Master self awareness.

Develop the necessary skills that will keep you productive and persistent on those days you just want to chill despite the workload on your to-do list. 

Lastly, think about what living life on your own terms means to you. Describe your ideal situation.

Peace of Mind.

My ideal situation would consist of three things:

  1. Control over my time.
  2. Creator of things, I want to see in the world. 
  3. Monetization of my passions.
