Gratitude Equals Growth.

The practice of gratitude will yield an abundance of opportunities for growth and increase in all areas of life.  Simply, gratitude is the secret to growth. Practice gratitude got it. Wait, before you copy + paste in your notes app, let’s dig a little deeper into how to practice gratitude. Keep reading.

Gratitude is defined as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. And is best shown through action not merely words. Can you handle what you have now? Are you a good steward over your possessions?

Stewardship is defined as the care or management of the possessions and affairs of someone else. Someone else? I work for mine. No one has given me anything. It’s easy to think those thoughts. But let’s dig deeper, here. Riddle me this: Do you truly own your possessions? Or were these given by God? A higher power? The universe?

The Law of Stewardship states the way you manage your possessions now will always determine what you will ultimately be able to acquire.

1.       There is a direct correlation between your capacity and your potential.

  •  Your potential for tomorrow is determined by how you manage what you have acquired today.

2.       Focus on your personal growth to grow your personal capacity to practice gratitude.

4 Ways to Practice Gratitude:

1.       Patience.

2.       Discipline.

3.       Development of Character.

4.       Use of Wisdom.

It would be easy to complain about not having enough money. Or I could become disciplined in the management of my money and resources through budgeting, saving, and investing. I could make wiser choices regarding my spending habits. Through exercising the methods mentioned above, my character will show I am worthy of an increase of money and resources.

Because I had a #mindshift and decided to practice gratitude for what I have now. I will be given opportunities for growth and increase in my finances.

Fortunately, this works for all areas of your life.

Now, that you know the secret. Tell me: In what area of life will you practice gratitude?

3 Cool Spaces for Creatives + Entrepreneurs to Get Sh*t Done

Inspiration is a major ingredient in getting anything accomplished for a creative or entrepreneur. You need the right vibe to get into that zone, where the creative juices flow. And the typical office desk is not going to cut it. Here are 3 places in the Atlanta area that offer the perfect vibe for getting sh*t done!

1.       Brash Coffee

Brash Coffee is a tiny cafe in a converted shipping container pouring craft coffee & roasting their own beans. The high-quality coffee is single origin making it smooth and simply superb. Due to their coffee and unique location Brash has earned their spot on our list

Westside Provisions

1168 Howell Mill Road Northwest

Atlanta, GA 30318

Monday - Friday: 7am to 6pm

Saturday - Sunday: 8am to 6pm

2.       Octane - Grant Park

Octane has several locations nestled around the Atlanta area. My personal favorite is the Grant Park location across from Atlanta's historic Oakland Cemetery. Here, Octane Grant Park serves up fine coffees and cocktails in an industrial loft-like space with high ceilings and huge windows to showcase the vibrant neighborhood.

437 Memorial Dr. SE Suite A5

Saturday - Sunday: 8am-10pm

3.       Gustos - Ponce location

Gustos has two Atlanta locations. My favorite is the newest one on Ponce. This venue is not your typical coffee shop, in fact, it is not one at all. It happens to be a restaurant falling under the “fast dining” category. The food is delicious and the playlist is the best I've heard in a while. The modern industrial like décor with ample seating and huge windows set the atmosphere and solidifies its spot on our list.

5 Ways to Recenter Your Focus.

Let's face it, today the internet is available at any moment. As if the amount of time spent being on computers, phones, and other electronic devices weren't enough at the office or in the home,  it is even possible to connect online at restaurants, or during a everyday commute with newer model cars having their own internet access.

With all this readily available access to the internet and being online, it can start to feel overwhelming. Now, I'm not saying being online is bad for you. I enjoy my social media, checking emails, and blogging among other online activities. I'm saying let's not let them consume us. As my grandmother likes to say,

Too much of a good thing, can be a bad thing.
— Grandma Hart

Yes, I did just quote my grandmother. #gemsfromgrand Nevertheless, you get the point.

Yes, I just made up the word "declutter". Rock with me, here.

Okay, It's time to do a little spring cleaning on our lives. Instead of deep diving on the emotional side of things and evaluating the relationships influencing our lives (I mean you can, if you want. #extracredit) let's keep it simple. Pick a room in your house or apartment (I prefer my closet.) and get to purging. Throw away all the unnecessary items collecting dust out! Anything, you have not used in the last two months, toss it! Clutter is not only a sign of stress but it can also be a cause of additional stress. Remember, less stuff more freedom.

You cannot overestimate the unimportance of practically everything.

Get out, and get moving. Set aside some time to go for a walk or a run. The smell of the outdoors alone has positive affects on our bodies and overall moods, such as, relaxation, calmness, and happiness

Stop and Smell the Roses.

Set aside time for yourself. Do the things you want. We constantly give to other people. This is the time designated for your to recharge, refuel, and re- energize. By implementing this simple task, the benefits will create a huge impact on one's ability to recenter and focus.

Self-care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel
— Eleanor Brownn

Mediation. Devotionals. Use this time to reconnect or recenter with God. (Or if you prefer, higher power, universe, etc.) There's nothing like getting into that zone between you and God. The clarity and understanding, you gain from this quiet time is a surefire way to recenter and refocus.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success
— Joshua 1:8

Journaling the Journey: Entry 2

Running off of 2 hours of sleep, and I'm not complaining.

I thought (keyword: thought) I would sleep but I couldn't. Why? Because I'm just so excited and inspired to work on my personal brand and a couple of other paid projects. Yes, paid.

Glory to God.
— Praise Break

It's a blessing to be able to get paid for things that don't even feel like work. Having the freedom to set my own schedule and accept projects on my own terms. I'm grateful.

So I'm up at the office (That's when you know its real) putting in work. I'll be sure to link to my finished projects at some point as well.

Let the creative juices flow!

Lord, use me to lead and inspire other entrepreneurs to fearlessly create the life they want.

Books. Books. + More Books.

Hi, My name is Simone Moreland and I am a bookworm. The first step is admittance, right?! Anyone that knows me knows I'm constantly reading a book. Despite, my busy schedule. I always find the time to read at least 30 mins a day. I know, I sound like someone's third grade teacher but it's true. Knowledge is power. In fact several of  the world's greatest leaders admit to reading books as a being a key factor in their success.

In fact, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, two of the wealthiest people in America, when asked "If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?" Bill responded, "Being able to read superfast.” Buffett agreed, saying: “I’ve probably wasted ten years reading slowly.”

Thus, my goal of reading at least two books a month no longer seem like a foreign concept. It's doable, folks!

The 4 latest books I've read & unique gems for each.

1. The Richest Man Who Ever Live by Steven Scott

This book is all about applying the lessons found in the Book of Proverbs written by King Solomon (The wealthiest king who ever lived.) and applying his teachings to everyday life.Scott describes how applying the concepts in Proverbs caused him to go from losing nine jobs to building a dozen multi-million dollar grossing businesses from scratch. Yup, He got my attention!

Major Gems

  • Diligence
  • The rewards
  1. You will gain sure advantage.
  2. You will be in control of the situation.
  3. You will experience true fulfillment.
  4. Your needs will be satifised.
  5. You will experience ever increasing success.
  6. Your efforts will be profitable.

This is just one of several concepts covered in the book. Scott also gives benefits, consequences, and activities for each concept discussed. Good Stuff!

2.  Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person By Shonda Rhimes

Yes! The lady who owns my Thursday nights on ABC. If you don't know, Shonda Rhimes is the creator of several hugely successful primetime television shows: Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. I purchased this one through my Audible app, and this lady is hilarious!  I literally laughed out loud on several occasions.

Major Gems

  • Self - Empowerment
    1. Why is it so hard to accept a compliment? When someone praises you for your accomplishments do not squirm in your seat, drop your head down, or fan your hands in a downward motion as if to signal the person to stop. Stand in your greatness! Accept the praise you deserve!
    2. Exercise your right to say No! Life is already stressful with personal task, when asked to acquire additional obligations that often time have nothing to do with our own agenda. Do not feel bad for speaking up and saying no. I repeat, Exercise your right to say No.

3. The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love By Devon Franklin and Meagan Good

In The Wait, DeVon and Meagan share the message of waiting—rather than rushing a relationship—can help you find the person you’re meant to be with.

4. Live Life Elevated: Practical Steps to Live Better, Think Better and Be Better By Dr. Santrell Hart- Moreland

Dr. Hart- Moreland  identifies the three major pillars that were crucial to developing a good life: health, relationships, and wealth. As she grew up, she would see friends, colleagues, and acquaintances focusing on one of these pillars to the neglect of the others. That didn't work. Here, she explains everything she has learned about thriving in each of these crucial areas of life.

Major Gems

  • Set Boundaries. When you interact on clear terms, your relationships (friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc.) begin to serve you and allow you to go after your purpose.
  • Leave a Legacy. We have a responsibility not only to ourselves, but for those who will come behind us.
  • Psychology of Health. Unless you look at how your mindset is tied to your health, you may never realize the obstacles hidden that might hold you back from achieving your goals in this area.

Here, it is all spelled out in it's simplest form. How to really have the health, relationships, and wealth you want in your life. If she can do it, I can too!
